A character redesign of Padmé Amidala from the Star Wars prequel films I created in response to my dissertation on the problems surrounding Eurocentric costume and character design within the fantasy genre. I wanted to redesign her medieval Europe inspired ‘picnic’ dress using non-Western influences (mainly Asian) to show the character's ‘beautiful’ and ‘softer’ side, rather than her cold and ‘formal’ side (as the films unfortunately do) to hopefully result in a more unique and less problematic design for the character.
